AI Learning Modules for Primary and Community Care
Collaborative Aotearoa, the AI in primary care working group and Hendrix health have partnered to develop four AI learning modules. The modules aim to support staff working in the primary and communicate care sector to learn about AI, how to embed it safely and with good processes. By completing these modules, clinicians are eligible to for Continuous Medical education (CME) points.
Module One - Introduction to AI and Understanding the Fundamentals
Learning Objectives include:
1. Understand the fundamental concepts of artificial intelligence and its applications.
2. Explore key use cases of AI in healthcare.
3. Identify the opportunities, limitations, and risks associated with AI.
Module Two - Prompting to AI
Learning Objectives include:
1. Recognise the importance of well-structured AI prompts for achieving better results.
2. Understand and apply the 6-step framework: Task, Context, Example, Persona, Format, and Tone.
Module Three - Ethics and How to Apply Tools Ethically
Learning Objectives include:
1. Understand the CARE Framework: Confidentiality, Accountability, Respect, and Equity.
2. Apply the framework to real-world ethical dilemmas in AI.
3. Develop practical strategies to ensure ethical and patient-centred AI usage.
Module Four - Effective use of API scribing tools in Primary Care
Learning Objectives include:
1. Understand the functionality of AI scribing tools and how they integrate into workflows.
2. Recognise the importance of patient consent and handle consent-related discussions effectively.
3. Apply best practices for reviewing and using AI-generated notes in patient care.
